The Opportunity:

Due to Maitland City Council's commitment to strengthening its asset management and capital planning capability, our team is experiencing significant growth, with a number of new opportunities available.

As our Asset Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and prioritising infrastructure projects across Council's asset portfolio.

Working collaboratively across the organisation and with external stakeholders, you will translate identified asset needs into well-defined project proposals. This includes undertaking investigations, developing project scopes, identifying risks, preparing cost estimates and providing the technical information required to support investment decisions.

You will contribute to the development and ongoing management of Council's Capital Works Program by maintaining a forward pipeline of infrastructure renewal, upgrade and new works projects. You will assess project priorities based on asset condition, risk, service levels, strategic objectives, funding and delivery readiness.

The role will also provide engineering and asset management expertise to support asset management plans, long-term infrastructure strategies, annual reporting, revaluations and service level reviews. Working closely with asset owners and delivery teams, you will help ensure projects are appropriately scoped and ready to progress through design and delivery.

You will also identify grant funding opportunities and support funding applications through the preparation of technical information and cost estimates.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will hold a Degree in Engineering and have demonstrated experience in infrastructure asset management, capital planning, project development or a related discipline.

You will also bring:

- Experience in the planning, development and prioritisation of infrastructure projects and capital works programs




- Knowledge of asset management principles, including lifecycle planning, asset performance, risk assessment and long-term infrastructure planning
- Experience undertaking technical investigations, developing project scopes and preparing cost estimates and business cases to support investment decisions.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and develop practical recommendations
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports, correspondence and technical documentation
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and frameworks, including the Local Government Act, Roads Act, WHS requirements and public liability obligations
- Experience contributing to asset management plans, asset revaluations, service level reviews or grant funding applications will be highly regarded

Benefits:

This is a full-time, permanent role working a 35-hour week, with a base salary range of $110,152 $122,269 per year based on demonstrated experience and qualifications + allowances + 12% super.
