Production Operator – Permanent

About the Role

BMS Specialty Cements is seeking reliable, switched-on and motivated Production Operators to join our growing manufacturing team in Toowoomba.

This isn't a role where you simply stand back and watch an automated production line. Our plant is hands-on, and our Production Operators play an active role throughout the manufacturing process.

You'll work across different areas of the processing plant, including product batching and blending, cement classification, operating equipment, handling materials, moving product and supporting the day-to-day production of our specialised cementitious products.

We're looking for people who are alert, safety-conscious and comfortable working around operating plant and machinery. You’ll need to be confident operating a forklift, willing to undertake hands-on production tasks and able to work safely as part of a small team.

This is a permanent, full-time position.

Two fixed shifts are available – Monday to Friday:

- Day Shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00pm – 9:00pm

There are no rotating shifts, allowing you to maintain a consistent weekly routine.

The base hourly rate commences from $30.33 per hour plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience, with applicable shift penalties and other entitlements paid in accordance with the relevant industrial instrument.

Successful applicants will complete a 6-month probationary period.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Production Operator, your responsibilities will include:

- Working across product batching and blending, cement classification, and packing and wrapping work areas
- Operating forklifts safely and confidently
- Operating processing plant and production equipment
- Receiving, storing and dispatching raw materials and finished products
- Undertaking hands-on production and manual handling tasks
- Monitoring your work area and maintaining awareness of surrounding plant, equipment and personnel
- Maintaining accurate stock and production records




- Keeping production areas clean, organised and safe
- Following company procedures, operating requirements and safety controls
- Working collaboratively with the team to achieve production requirements

The Working Environment

We want applicants to understand the environment before joining us.

Cementitious mortar and grout manufacturing is an industrial environment and can involve exposure to dust, noise, mobile equipment and manual handling activities. Appropriate PPE is mandatory and must be worn correctly and consistently.

We manage workplace exposures through engineering controls, PPE, hygiene requirements and health monitoring where required.

This role also involves regular physical and manual tasks, so you must be comfortable undertaking hands-on work and using safe manual handling techniques throughout your shift.

About You

You don't necessarily need years of manufacturing or production experience. We're more interested in finding people with the right attitude, awareness and work ethic.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

- A current Forklift (LF) License – required
- The ability to safely and confidently operate a forklift
- Good situational awareness around operating plant and mobile equipment
- A genuine commitment to workplace health and safety
- Reliability and punctuality
- A willingness to learn different areas of the manufacturing and production process
- The ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a close-knit team
- Good attention to detail
- A current Driver's License – preferred




- Previous experience in manufacturing, production, processing, warehousing, or logistics – advantageous but not essential

You must be able to reliably commute to our Toowoomba facility and consistently work one of the advertised fixed shifts.

As this is a physically demanding and safety-sensitive role, successful candidates will be required to complete BMS Specialty Cements' pre-employment medical assessment, including a Functional Capacity Assessment and Drug & Alcohol Screen.
