Innova Dental Launceston is looking for our next full-time Dental Assistant Trainee – and we don’t expect you to walk through the door knowing dentistry. That’s what the traineeship is for.

One of our Dental Assistants is heading off on maternity leave and others are relocating interstate for university, which means there's room for someone new to join us – potentially two people if we find the right fit.

So... what does a Dental Assistant actually do?

It's definitely not just passing instruments.

At Innova, our Dental Assistants are right in the middle of everything.

They aren't standing in the corner waiting to be told what's next. They're highly trained, hands-on members of the clinical team who work side-by-side with our dentists and play a huge role in keeping the entire day moving.

We practise four-handed dentistry, so our DAs learn to think ahead – anticipating the next instrument, material or step before the dentist even has to ask. They assist throughout treatment, support our patients, help complete clinical notes, manage the flow of the surgery and make sure the dentist has what they need, when they need it.

And that's only part of it.

Our DAs are involved in digital scanning, in-house crown workflows, orthodontics, surgical and implant procedures, sterilisation, infection control, 3D printing, clinical setup and so much more.





They're organised. They're switched on. They're everywhere.

Quite simply, our dentists couldn't do what they do without them.

And if you're reading that thinking, I wouldn't know where to begin – good news.

We don't expect you to.

You'll work full time while completing your Certificate III in Dental Assisting, with structured, hands-on training from some incredibly experienced DAs who were once brand new too.

You don't need to arrive as a superstar DA. That's what we're going to train you to become.

- You can have a laugh while still knowing when it's time to get things done

Dental experience? Not required.

Where could it take you?

Your Certificate III doesn't have to be the finish line.

Some of our Dental Assistants have developed into surgical and implant assisting, orthodontics, digital dentistry, senior positions, mentoring and clinical leadership.

In fact, some of the people now leading our clinical team started out as trainee Dental Assistants at Innova.
