Elderbloom is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our organisation and support the accurate and timely processing of payroll!

This is a fixed-term contract from November 2026 to April 2027, with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Officer will be responsible for the end-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring all wages and other remuneration are paid accurately and on time. The role will also be responsible for maintaining employee payroll records, administering employee entitlements, completing payroll reconciliations, keeping up-to-date with all Award changes and other payroll-related legislative requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Maintain up-to-date payroll records for all staff and Board Members.
- Track and report on all employee entitlements.
- Administer leave awaiting approval and reconcile leave entitlements prior to each pay run.
- Manage the end-to-end processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring wages and other remuneration are processed accurately and on time.
- Process termination payments.
- Administer and reconcile salary sacrifice payments.
- Complete Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgements.
- Prepare and export payroll journals to the accounting system.
- Process fortnightly superannuation guarantee payments and create superannuation companies in the payroll system as required.
- Process PAYG tax liabilities on a fortnightly basis.
- Reconcile the wages account to bank statements.
- Reconcile end-of-financial-year payroll records and reportable fringe benefits and complete relevant ATO lodgements.
- Reconcile roster and leave entitlements prior to each pay run.
- Respond to staff requests for confirmation of employment in a timely manner.
- Lodge workers compensation claims with the insurer and administer the payroll aspects of workers compensation claims.
- Prepare and lodge BAS on a monthly basis.
- Process police clearances for staff and complete bankruptcy checks for key personnel and Board Members as required.




- Maintain relevant employee records and assist with IT and email setup for new staff and Board Members.
- Keep up to date with relevant award changes and payroll-related legislative requirements.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute positively to a culturally diverse workforce.
- Identify issues, offer solutions and take responsibility for completing required documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, training and continuous improvement activities as required.
- Comply with Elderbloom policies, procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.

Essential Criteria:

- Demonstrated end-to-end payroll experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Award interpretation.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive payroll and employee information.
- Strong technical skills, including experience with payroll software and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet payroll deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a broader team.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse workforce.

Desirable Criteria:

- Experience using Inerva.
- Understanding of salary sacrifice arrangements.
- Minimum five years' payroll experience.
- Previous aged care experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Aged Care Award and Nurses Award.
