Are you an experienced heavy vehicle or engine technician looking to combine your technical expertise with leadership?

Penske Australia is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our Remanufacturing team in Hazelmere. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll support the day-to-day running of the workshop, lead and coach technicians, and help ensure engine and transmission repairs and overhauls are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

About the Role

Working closely with the Remanufacturing/Service Manager, you'll play a key role in coordinating workshop activities and keeping jobs moving. Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing day-to-day supervision and support across workshop repairs, preventative maintenance, engine and transmission overhauls.
- Coordinating daily workloads and allocating repair jobs to technicians.
- Providing technicians with technical guidance and the information required to complete service, repair and overhaul work.
- Remaining hands-on in the workshop, with productive hours booked directly to customer jobs.
- Monitoring job progress and communicating any additional work requirements or potential delays.
- Working closely with Service, Parts and Advisors to ensure parts are available when required.
- Coaching and developing technicians while promoting strong safety and quality standards.
- Driving productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement across the workshop.
- Helping the team achieve customer schedules while maintaining a solid focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
- Championing a proactive,



safety-first culture and ensuring company HSE requirements are consistently followed.

About You

To succeed in this role, you'll bring:

- An appropriate trade qualification.
- At least 5 years' experience within the heavy vehicle or engine industry.
- Strong technical knowledge and mechanical fault-finding capability.
- Experience with Detroit, MTU, Series 60 and/or Allison product lines will be highly regarded.
- Previous leadership, supervisory or Leading Hand experience, or the capability to step into a leadership position.
- The ability to motivate, coach and support a team of technicians.
- Strong organisation and time-management skills.
- A practical understanding of workshop productivity, labour costs, gross margin and operational performance.
- Confidence using computer-based systems.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and delivering great outcomes for customers
