Jorge & Co is a busy, family-operated café located within the Box Hill Public Hospital. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Hand / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys food preparation, works efficiently and takes pride in keeping their workspace clean and organised. The position will initially be casual, with the possibility of progressing to full time employment for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities

- Preparing a range of fresh salads each day
- Completing daily slicing, chopping, peeling, weighing and portioning tasks
- Preparing ingredients and assisting chefs with daily food production
- Assisting with the preparation, assembly, packaging and labelling of catering orders
- Preparing sandwiches, wraps, rolls, toasties and other café items when required
- Restocking preparation stations, displays and ingredient containers
- Following recipes, portion sizes and presentation standards
- Checking food freshness and correctly labelling, dating and rotating stock
- Receiving, organising and storing deliveries
- Washing dishes, utensils, trays, pots,



pans and kitchen equipment
- Ensuring all food safety sheets are filled accurately

About you

- Be reliable, punctual and ready to work
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced kitchen
- Have strong attention to cleanliness, organisation and food presentation
- Be comfortable following recipes, instructions and preparation procedures
- Work well independently and as part of a team
- Understand the importance of food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
- Be physically capable of standing for extended periods and completing manual kitchen duties
- Previous commercial kitchen, food preparation, kitchen hand or similar hospitality experience is highly regarded and preferred
