SEEDS Bushland Restoration is seeking motivated and environmentally minded people to join our field team as Level 1 and Level 2 Bushland Restoration Crew members.

For more than 20 years, SEEDS has delivered professional ecological restoration and land management services for local government, state government and other public-sector clients. Our work is undertaken across a diverse range of bushland reserves, waterways, wetlands and conservation areas throughout the Mornington Peninsula, South-East Melbourne, the Dandenong Ranges and surrounding regions.

Successful applicants will contribute to practical ecological restoration activities, including:

- Targeted weed control using manual, mechanical and chemical techniques.
- Indigenous revegetation and plant establishment.
- Assisted natural regeneration and habitat restoration.
- Herbicide application, including spot spraying, cut-and-paint and drill-and-fill techniques.
- Vegetation maintenance, monitoring and site assessments.
- Safe operation and routine maintenance of vehicles, small plant and hand tools.
- Completion of daily Job Safety Analyses, work records and other field documentation.
- Compliance with SEEDS’ quality, safety and environmental management systems.

Level 1 Bushland Restoration Crew

This position is suitable for people beginning their ecological restoration career or currently completing a relevant qualification. Previous industry experience is desirable but not essential where an applicant demonstrates a robust work ethic, genuine interest in ecological restoration and willingness to learn.

Level 1 applicants should demonstrate:

- A developing understanding of ecological restoration principles and practices.
- Basic weed and indigenous plant identification skills.
- An understanding of common weed-control methods.




- A willingness to learn about herbicides and their safe application.
- An understanding of workplace health and safety responsibilities.
- The ability to follow instructions, procedures and site‑specific work plans.
- Safe use of basic hand tools and equipment.
- Reliability, punctuality and the physical capacity to undertake outdoor fieldwork.
- The ability to work cooperatively as part of a field team.

Level 2 Bushland Restoration Crew

This position is suited to applicants with practical bushland restoration experience who can complete routine field activities safely and competently with limited supervision.

Level 2 applicants should demonstrate:

- A sound understanding of ecological restoration techniques, including natural regeneration, assisted regeneration and revegetation.
- Medium to high-level weed and indigenous plant identification skills relevant to South‑East Victoria.
- Demonstrated experience applying manual, mechanical and chemical weed‑control techniques.
- Good working knowledge of herbicides, application methods, label requirements and environmental controls.
- Well‑developed understanding of occupational health and safety principles and field‑based risk management.
- Competent and safe operation and routine maintenance of vehicles, small plant and hand tools.
- The ability to interpret work plans, identify site priorities and complete work to the required standard.
- Accurate completion of daily work records, herbicide records and safety documentation.
- A basic understanding of quality and environmental management principles.
- The ability to support less‑experienced crew members and contribute positively to team performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants should hold, or be working towards, the following:

- Minimum - Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
- Current agricultural chemical‑user accreditation, such as ChemCert or ACUP.

Relevant industry experience, additional ecological qualifications, chainsaw competency, traffic‑management training and experience using digital field‑mapping or data‑collection systems will be viewed favourably.
