About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a commercially minded and hands-on Management Accountant to join a growing project-focused organisation based in Melbourne's north-west. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this role will play a critical part in supporting operational and leadership teams through the provision of financial reporting, cashflow management, job costing analysis, forecasting, and business insights. Operating in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment, you will be given exposure across multiple entities while partnering closely with project and operational stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.

Duties

- Prepare and post month-end journals across multiple entities.
- Manage job costing processes, including revenue accruals, write-offs, reporting, and analysis.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain cashflow reporting and prepare rolling cashflow forecasts.
- Manage intercompany allocations and loan reconciliations.
- Partner with Project Managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights and support key business decisions.




- Assist with the preparation of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
- Support external audit processes through the preparation of schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Review and support internal control processes, including delegation of authority compliance.
- Assist the broader finance team across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions when required.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Develop strong relationships across the business to improve financial understanding and commercial outcomes.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, collaboration, and accountability.

Skills & Experience

- CA or CPA qualified.
- Minimum five years' experience within accounting, management accounting, or a similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards, financial reporting requirements, taxation compliance, and financial controls.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to develop practical financial models and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and commercial acumen.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across operational and leadership teams.
- High level of attention to detail and strong organisational capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to a team-oriented team environment.
- Experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, infrastructure, or other project-based industries will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to ERP systems and reporting tools, particularly Green Tree or similar platforms, would be advantageous
