Fitzroy High School, is a vibrant, progressive, medium-sized government secondary school, located in the inner city suburb of Fitzroy North. The school delivers a year 7-12 curriculum to over 500 Students, as well as students from Collingwood College enrolled in our shared senior Campus for years 11 and 12.

The school's physical environment consists of the original buildings and recent additions; there are various room configurations providing some flexibility of use. The grounds are quite small but are augmented by using local facilities such as Edinburgh Gardens. The grounds have had significant student input in design and construction and include a kitchen garden, school-wide and community composting system and indigenous gardens.

Collingwood College offersinnovative and progressive teaching approaches atalllevels. Wurun Senior Campus, is the shared campus for Fitzroy High School and Collingwood College senior students. Established in 2022, It is located between both schools at the Old Gasworks site, on the corner of Queens Parade and George Street. The campus provides a state of the art learning environment for up to 650 students from both schools.

Role

Leading Teacher - Student Transitions & Pathways

The role is a Leading Teacher at the Wurun Senior Campus, a shared campus for all Year 11 and 12 students from Collingwood College and Fitzroy High School. The person will uphold the vision, philosophy and shared values of the campus, working with all staff to achieve the goals outlined in each school¿s Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan and the educational statement for the campus.

The role of the Leading Teacher (Student Transitions & Pathways) is to:

- Build on the successful collaboration and continuous improvement of both schools and oversee the transition from 10 to VCE.
- Work with home schools on supporting the program for enhancement students.
- Work closely with members of the Wurun Management Committee to implement the strategic plan for senior program provision that focuses on a culture of innovation and excellence and optimises educational resources and opportunities
- Work in partnership with the Leading Teacher (Student Engagement), and the Wellbeing Team to improve the learning, wellbeing and engagement of all students
- Collaborate and co-lead with the Campus Principal, Leading Teacher & Learning Specialist campus team meetings and transition meetings
- Implementation of the campus vision for senior program provision based on the common values of both schools and be responsive to the expectations of students, staff, parents and community.
- Work closely with the Careers Team to plan events throughout the year to encourage pathway thinking

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Duties





- Support Year 10 enhancement students with a point of contact at Wurun.
- Work with the Campus Principal and Leading Teachers to support House Leaders and 7-12 LALs to plan and manage senior programs events,
- including graduation ceremony
- Parent information events
- Wurun Exhibition evening
- Academic Retreat/s
- Careers Expo

- Work with House Leaders and the Leading Teacher/Learning Specialist to support student program and pathway decisions, including being part of or supporting parent meetings, careers meetings and engaging with external stakeholders.
- Assist Learning Specialist and Campus Principal with the implementation and running of external exams.
- Support Leadership team with the behaviour management of the student cohort.
- Work with relevant leaders at home schools to plan for and execute Year 10 transition including providing support to the design and implementation of Senior Subject selections, panels and ECP.
- Work closely with 7-12 LAL and Year 10 Coordinators at home schools to provide advice and support to students, families and staff regarding Senior Pathways and subjects.
- Other duties as determined by the Campus Principal or Senior Program Management Committee

Who May Apply

Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible for employment, transfer or promotion in the principal or teacher class:

- The person must have provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching; and
- if the person completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January 2024, they must demonstrate that they have satisfactorily completed a postgraduate level accredited initial teacher education program that has been accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority as satisfying the requirements of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership 'Accreditation of initial teacher education programs in Australia: Standards and Procedures'; and
- a person who graduated from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 must also demonstrate that they have passed the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements (this condition is satisfied where the LANTITE requirement is part of the Victorian ITE program completed by the person).
