The Role:

Due to a recent acquisition, this well-known retail business is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join the team on an initial 12-month contract. You will play a key role in keeping payroll operations running smoothly throughout an important period of transition and change.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical payroll knowledge, with responsibility across superannuation, STP, payroll tax and payroll accounting. You will work closely with Finance, P&C; and external bodies including the ATO to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

- Process and reconcile superannuation payments and STP submissions
- Prepare and lodge payroll tax returns across multiple jurisdictions




- Validate payroll GL reports and complete balance sheet reconciliations
- Reconcile payroll and finance system interfaces
- Investigate and resolve payroll reporting discrepancies
- Support month-end and year-end payroll accounting
- Assist with payroll process improvements throughout the transition

To be considered, you will have:

- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including Super Guarantee, STP and payroll tax
- Hands-on experience with SAP HR/Payroll or a similar large payroll system
- Strong GL and balance sheet reconciliation experience
- Advanced Excel skills with a solid analytical mindset
- Experience interpreting awards and enterprise agreements
- A relevant payroll or accounting qualification would be advantageous
