Rosehill Secondary College is seeking a Physics Teacher - VCE to join our dedicated teaching team. This is a full-time position based in Niddrie, (West Essendon) Victoria. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality VCE Physics instruction to students, fostering their understanding of key physics concepts and preparing them for successful completion of their VCE studies. This position is integral to our commitment to academic excellence and student achievement, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' educational trajectories and future pathways.

Key responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured VCE Physics lessons that align with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) requirements
- Assess student learning through a range of formative and summative assessment methods, providing constructive feedback to support student progress
- Set and maintain high expectations for student behaviour, engagement and academic achievement
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, curiosity and scientific inquiry
- Develop and maintain detailed records of student progress and achievement, communicating regularly with parents and guardians about student performance
- Conduct laboratory practicals and experimental work, ensuring appropriate safety standards and fostering hands-on learning experiences
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Science department to coordinate curriculum delivery and share best practice
- Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain current knowledge of physics education and teaching methodologies
- Contribute to the broader life of the school including extracurricular activities, professional development and school events
- Support student wellbeing and pastoral care responsibilities as required by the school

What we're looking for

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Physics or a related discipline




- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)
- Proven experience teaching Physics at secondary level, preferably with VCE experience
- Strong subject matter expertise and a thorough understanding of VCE Physics curriculum requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive and supportive learning environments
- Proficiency in using digital technologies and learning management systems to enhance teaching and learning
- A commitment to maintaining high qualified standards and engaging in ongoing professional development
- Experience with VCE assessment practices and familiarity with VCAA resources
