Advanced Standing Assessor
This is an exciting opportunity to join a centralised university Admissions team as an Advanced Standing Assessor on a temporary casual contract through to 31 December 2026 .
Working within the Senior Officer, Admissions function, you will play an important role in assessing advanced standing and credit applications, reviewing academic documentation and applying university policies, course rules and established precedents.
This role will suit an experienced higher education professional who enjoys analytical work, has exceptional attention to detail and is confident making sound decisions within a policy-driven environment.
With workloads fluctuating throughout peak admissions and offer periods, you’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and process advanced standing and credit applications accurately and consistently
- Review and interpret academic transcripts, course outlines, qualifications and other supporting documentation
- Apply university policies, course rules, eligibility criteria and established precedents when assessing applications
- Exercise sound judgement when dealing with complex or non-standard applications
- Assess applications involving partial equivalency, overseas study, pathway programs and coursework-to-coursework credit
- Manage high-volume workloads and changing priorities during peak admissions periods
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within relevant systems
- Provide explicit and accurate advice to internal stakeholders and admissions teams
- Maintain knowledge of admissions, credit transfer and advanced standing processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across admissions operations and service delivery
About You
You are an experienced higher education professional with a strong understanding of admissions, credit assessment or student administration processes.
You will ideally have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Advanced Standing or Credit Assessment within a university or tertiary environment
- University Admissions assessment
- Enrolments, course transitions or student administration
- Assessment of academic documentation and qualifications
- Curriculum, study plan or course transition processes
You will also bring:
- Strong analytical and judgement skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to interpret academic transcripts, course outlines and curriculum information
- Strong understanding of policy-driven processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and high-volume workloads
- Confidence working independently while contributing effectively to a team
Systems Experience
Experience with the following systems will be highly regarded:
- Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- SISOne
- Oracle
- Salesforce
- StudyLink
- Advanced Standing precedent databases or similar credit assessment platforms
Experience with other university student management systems such as Callista, Banner or similar will also be considered.
