Hutchies is seeking a experienced and skilled Tower Crane Operator & Intermediate Rigger to join our Coffs Harbour project. Commencing in April 2026 and paid under EBA rates. Join our team!

Responsibilities

As a Tower Crane Operator , your responsibilities will include:

- Safely operating the tower crane in accordance with site requirements and safety regulations.
- Working closely with doggers, riggers, and site supervisors to ensure productive and safe lifting operations.
- Conducting pre-start checks, inspections, and routine maintenance of the crane.
- Ensuring all lifts are carried out in line with lift plans and Work Method Statements.
- Maintaining clear communication with the ground crew via radio or hand signals.
- Reporting any hazards, defects, or incidents promptly.
- Assisting with general site duties when required and safe to do so.
- Contributing to a safe, productive, and positive work environment.

As an Intermediate Rigger & Dogman , your responsibilities will include:

- Safely slinging and securing loads for crane operations.
- Directing and guiding the crane operator using hand signals or radio communication.




- Ensuring all lifting operations comply with safety regulations and site procedures.
- Inspecting lifting gear and reporting any defects or hazards.
- Assisting with the movement, placement, and positioning of materials on-site.
- Maintaining clear communication with site supervisors, crane operators, and other workers.
- Monitoring site conditions to ensure safe lifting environments.
- Supporting general site operations when not engaged in dogging duties.
- Following all Work Method Statements and completing required permits.
- Contributing to a safe and efficient worksite through proactive hazard identification.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

- Relevant licenses and qualifications in the respective field for this role
- Experience in precast concrete panel installations
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of market conditions, construction techniques, and industry standards
- Ability to work in a team environment and have initiative when working independently
- Strong relationship building with all relevant stakeholders
