Salix is looking for an ambitious Sales Engineer to join our team and bring a groundbreaking new product to the railway industry.
We’re developing technology that has the potential to revolutionise the way maintenance is carried out on railway tracks — improving safety, efficiency and productivity while changing the way railway operators and maintenance teams’ approach one of their most critical challenges.
This is an opportunity to join Salix at an exciting stage of our journey and play a key role in taking an innovative product from the next stage of development into the market.
- Develop and execute a sales strategy for Salix’s new railway maintenance technology.
- Identify and develop relationships with key customers, stakeholders and decision-makers across the rail industry.
- Build a strong understanding of customer needs and translate technical challenges into commercial opportunities.
- Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations and product trials.
- Work closely with engineering and product teams to communicate customer feedback and help shape future development.
- Manage the sales process from initial engagement through to demonstration, trial, negotiation and contract.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers and industry partners.
- Attend industry events,
exhibitions and customer sites to build awareness and generate opportunities.
- Prepare proposals, quotations and technical/commercial responses.
- Track market developments, competitors and emerging opportunities within railway maintenance.
- Help establish Salix as a leading innovator in railway maintenance technology.
We’re looking for someone who combines technical credibility with commercial drive.
You might already be working as a Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Business Development Manager, Railway Engineer or Project Engineer — or you may have another background that gives you the right combination of technical knowledge, customer understanding and enthusiasm for innovation.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience in technical sales, engineering, business development or a related role.
- A robust understanding of railway infrastructure, track maintenance or rail engineering.
- The ability to understand complex technical concepts and explain them simply and convincingly.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A commercially minded approach and the confidence to develop relationships at all levels.
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of opportunities.
- A willingness to travel to customer sites and industry events.
