Aegis Rural is conducting a confidential recruitment process on behalf of an established commercial poultry production business in the Pakenham region.

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and performance of a busy poultry production site.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows how to run an operational site, lead a small team, set clear priorities and maintain oversight of what is happening across the operation each day. While your primary responsibility will be coordinating people and operations, you will be expected to work alongside the team when required and lead by example.

Previous poultry experience is not essential. We are primarily looking for a capable operational leader with experience in agricultural production, food manufacturing, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics or a similar environment. The technical aspects of poultry production can be learned.

THE ROLE

The Site Supervisor will coordinate the day-to-day operation of the site and ensure people, production, maintenance and operational priorities are effectively managed.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading and coordinating a small operational team
- Managing daily staffing requirements, rosters, work allocation and priorities
- Providing explicit direction to employees and ensuring agreed tasks and actions are followed through
- Maintaining oversight of daily production performance and investigating abnormalities or operational issues
- Coordinating maintenance requirements and priorities with maintenance personnel
- Planning and coordinating periodic shed turnarounds and other major site activities
- Supporting the operational team directly during busy periods, staff shortages and major site activities when required
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, organisation and site presentation
- Ensuring equipment, buildings and infrastructure are appropriately cared for




- Maintaining workplace safety, biosecurity and animal welfare standards
- Identifying operational issues promptly and facilitating appropriate corrective action
- Improving site systems, routines, communication and accountability
- Providing clear reporting to senior management regarding site performance, priorities, issues and outstanding actions

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership of an operation and is comfortable being accountable for its day-to-day performance.

You will ideally have:

- Experience supervising or leading a small operational team
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- The ability to set priorities and provide clear direction to staff
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving
- A hands-on leadership style and willingness to work alongside the team when required
- Strong communication and follow-through
- The ability to coordinate multiple operational priorities at once
- An eye for standards, organisation and site presentation
- Experience in agricultural production, manufacturing, food production, warehousing, logistics or another operational environment

Previous poultry or broader agricultural experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Training can be provided in the technical aspects of poultry production.

This is a permanent full-time position based in the Pakenham region. An attractive salary package will be negotiated based on experience.
