About the role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Telecommunications HFC Network Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting HFC telecommunications infrastructure, particularly NBN technologies including fibre optic and HFC networks. This role involves fieldwork, diagnostics, customer interaction, and ensuring all work is performed to industry and safety standards.

Key responsibilities
Install, commission, test, and maintain current and existing NBN HFC network and related infrastructure.
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HFC (Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial) systems, including modems, RF cabling and customer-premises equipment.
Conduct fault-finding, diagnostics, and performance testing using multiple types of specialised equipment.
Interpret network plans, follow technical documentation, and work collaboratively with field engineers and project teams.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OH&S; standards, NBN guidelines, and quality requirements.
Liaise with customers and provide transparent, qualified communication during installations, upgrades, and service appointments.




Perform maintenance and installation works on both aerial and underground network infrastructure.
Perform ISP & OSP tasks within the PMUS program project.

About you
Relevant qualification in Telecommunications or Electrical Installations.
Proven experience in NBN HFC installation, testing, and maintenance.
Practical experience with OTDRs, fusion splicers, VSE-1100, ONX-630 test equipment and industry tools.
Understanding of OH&S; requirements and ability to work safely in field environments.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Current Australian driver's licence.
High School (Year 12) education.
3 years of Telecommunication experience.
Legal work rights in Australia.
Ability to reliably commute or relocate to Sydney NSW 2000 before starting work.
English language proficiency.
