Job Description

Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum GP VMO or CMO In-Charge to support Emergency Department and inpatient ward cover across a regional hospital.

This role is suited to a confident doctor with robust Emergency Medicine experience who is comfortable managing ED presentations, supporting ward patients and working across 24-hour cover.

There are multiple shifts available across December and early January, with doctors able to advise which shifts they are available for.

n

Clinical Environment

n

You will provide GP VMO / CMO in-charge cover across the Emergency Department and inpatient ward in a regional hospital setting within Hunter New England LHD.

n

- 24-hour clinical cover – support ED and inpatient ward care across 08:00 - 08:00 shifts
n
- In-charge ED role – manage emergency presentations as the senior onsite doctor
n
- Ward-based exposure – support inpatient reviews, management plans and escalation
n
- Regional hospital setting – work in a rural and regional ED environment with broad clinical variety
n
- Flexible shift selection – choose from multiple available dates across December and early January
n

Patient Demographic

n

You will support a broad regional patient mix, including adults, older patients, families, emergency presentations, acute medical cases, ward patients and patients requiring assessment, stabilisation, admission, escalation or transfer.

Key Duties

- Provide in-charge Emergency Department cover

- Review and manage ED presentations

- Support inpatient ward care

- Complete documentation and handover

- Escalate care appropriately when required

Requirements

n

n
- Current AHPRA Registration
n
- Recent Emergency Medicine experience
n
- GP VMO or CMO in-charge experience preferred
n
- Strong clinical judgement and communication skills
n
- Ability to complete SDPR training prior to commencement
n
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
n

Successful referrals can receive a $1,100 prepaid gift card for non-specialist doctors, or $1,600 for specialist/consultant referrals, once the referred doctor has completed the required shifts.
