Coastal Hire is looking for an experienced Mechanic / Fitter to join our Taree team.

n

But we're not looking for just any mechanic.

n

Our hire fleet covers a huge range of equipment, so we need someone with broad mechanical knowledge, plenty of practical experience and, most importantly, the sort of can-do attitude that means they're willing to have a crack at almost anything.

n

One day you could be working on an excavator or EWP, the next a trailer, generator, compactor, mower, vehicle or another piece of hire equipment.

n

We're looking for someone who has been around machinery for a while, knows their way around a workshop and can diagnose a problem rather than simply replace parts until the fault disappears.

n

You don't need to have worked on every machine in our fleet. If you don't know it, we want someone who's willing and able to learn it.

The lifestyle

n

This is a permanent full-time position, Monday to Friday, 7am–3pm.

n

No late finishes. No weekends. No endless 10 or 12-hour days.

n

Come to work, get stuck into the job and still have your afternoon and evening to yourself.

n

What you'll be working on

n

Coastal Hire has a large and wide-ranging hire fleet, including earthmoving equipment, access equipment, EWP's, trailers, vehicles, garden equipment, generators, construction equipment and much more.

n

We also continue to invest in new equipment, so a big part of your role will be keeping both our new and existing fleet serviced, maintained, safe and ready for hire.

n





Your role will include:

n

Servicing, maintaining, diagnosing and repairing a broad range of hire equipment, plant, EWP's and company vehicles

n

Fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems

n

Scheduled and preventative maintenance

n

Pre and post-hire inspections

n

Troubleshooting faults and getting equipment back into reliable working order

n

Keeping accurate maintenance and service records

n

Identifying issues before they become bigger problems

n

Helping maintain our workshop, equipment and company assets to a high standard

n

Assisting with equipment movements, loading and unloading when required

n

Pitching in with the wider branch team when needed

n

Who we're looking for

n

This role would suit an experienced mechanic, mechanical fitter, plant mechanic, diesel mechanic or similarly experienced tradesperson who enjoys variety and problem solving.

n

More than anything, we're looking for someone who is:

n

Mechanically minded with broad, hands-on experience

n

Confident fault finding and diagnosing problems

n

Experienced with a variety of machinery and equipment

n

Familiar with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems

n

Practical and resourceful

n





Able to work independently and use initiative

n

Willing to learn equipment they haven't worked on before

n

Safety conscious with good attention to detail

n

Reliable and able to keep good maintenance records

n

Happy to be part of a team and lend a hand when required

n

Equipped with a genuine can-do attitude

n

Basically, we're looking someone with a broad skill set who enjoys figuring things out and doesn't need every day to involve the exact same machine.

n

Qualifications & licences

n

A trade qualification in mechanical fitting, automotive, diesel or a related field would be highly regarded.

n

Experience and practical ability are extremely important to us, so we'd also like to hear from people with extensive relevant industry experience.

n

The following would be advantageous:

Current driver's licence

n

MR licence

n

White Card

n

EWP ticket

n

Electrical test and tag qualification
