A unique private position for an experienced dog trainer

We are seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Dog Trainer & Handler to work with our dogs on a regular part-time basis at our private rural property in the Macedon Ranges.

n

This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished dog trainer who would enjoy working consistently with the same group of dogs, developing their training and behaviour over time and becoming a trusted part of their regular routine.

n

We are looking for someone with proven professional dog-training experience, strong practical handling skills and the confidence to work independently with multiple dogs of different sizes, ages and personalities.

The Role

n

The focus of the position is practical, consistent training that develops calm, confident and well-mannered dogs within a home and property workplace.

n

Responsibilities will include:

n

- Structured obedience and behavioural training
n
- Individual and group training sessions
n
- Lead walking, recall and boundary training
n
- Reinforcing good manners and appropriate household behaviours
n
- Developing and maintaining consistent training routines
n
- Exercise, play and enrichment activities
n
- Confident and safe management of multiple dogs
n
- Identifying individual training and behavioural needs
n
- Developing practical strategies to address unwanted behaviours
n
- Monitoring progress and adjusting training approaches as required
n
- Providing regular feedback and recommendations
n
- General dog handling and care associated with the role
n

About You

n

To be successful, you will be an experienced dog trainer who is calm, confident, patient and consistent in your approach.

n





We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

- Proven professional dog-training experience
n
- Qualifications in dog training, canine behaviour or a related discipline
n
- Strong knowledge of canine behaviour and body language
n
- Experience confidently managing and training multiple dogs
n
- Demonstrated success with obedience and behavioural training
n
- The ability to tailor training methods to individual dogs
n
- A practical, balanced and welfare-focused approach to training
n
- Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for training sessions
n
- Excellent communication and reliability
n
- A genuine interest in developing a long-term relationship with the dogs and their owners
n
- Current driver's licence and reliable transport
n
- Experience in multi-dog households, behavioural training or working with a variety of breeds and temperaments will be particularly well regarded.
n

This is a permanent part-time position of approximately 12–20 hours per week, ideally across 3–4 regular shifts.

n

There is flexibility in establishing the regular working days and hours for the right person.

n

We are prepared to pay at the top of the advertised range for an exceptional candidate with strong qualifications and proven experience.
