About the position

n

Narromine Shire Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join ourInfrastructure and Engineering Services DepartmentasManager Engineering Services.

n

This is a keytechnical leadership roleresponsible for Council'scivil engineering design, technical review, surveying, GIS, asset inspection and long-term infrastructure planning functions.

n

The role will oversee the preparation and review of designs for roads, stormwater, drainage and footpath infrastructure, provide professional engineering advice, manage Council's spatial and survey functions, coordinate asset inspection programs and contribute to the development of Council'sannual and 10-year infrastructure works programs.

n

You will also lead and mentor Council's engineering services team, promote high technical standards and ensure infrastructure planning and decision-making ispractical, evidence-based and aligned with Council's budgets and asset management plans.

n

Key responsibilities include

n

- Preparing and reviewing detailed civil engineering designs forroads, intersections, kerb and gutter, footpaths and stormwater drainage
n
- Providing professional technical advice to Council, staff, developers,



contractors and stakeholders
n
- Managing Council'sGIS, QGIS and spatial data systems
n
- Overseeing surveying activities and associated equipment, includingrover, drone and Causenet systems
n
- Coordinating asset inspections, condition assessments and technical data collection
n
- Developing and monitoring Council'sannual and 10-year works programs
n
- Supporting Council's asset management planning and infrastructure prioritisation
n
- Leading, mentoring and developing technical staff
n
- Maintaining effective quality assurance, technical documentation and design standards
n
- Monitoring relevant budgets, estimates, expenditure and program delivery
n

To be successful in this position you will need

n

n
- Degree in Civil Engineeringor an equivalent relevant qualification
n
- Minimumfive years' experience in civil design, including roads, stormwater and surveying
n
- Demonstrated proficiency inCAD software
n
- Experience managingGIS platforms, including QGIS, spatial data and mapping systems
n
- Experience undertaking or managing surveying activities and survey equipment
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly to a range of audiences
n
- CurrentClass C Driver's Licence
n
- General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
n

n

Desirable experience

n

n
- Experience working inLocal Government or a similar public-sector infrastructure environment
n
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing technical staff
n
- Asset management, condition assessment and long-term infrastructure planning experience
n
- Drone surveying experience
n
- Experience applyingAustroads guidelines, Australian Standards and relevant civil infrastructure design standards
n
- Experience developing standard drawings, design templates, technical procedures and document-control systems
n
