Thrust Maritime builds the equipment that goes over the side of offshore vessels and into the water.

Active heave compensation winches, launch and recovery systems, subsea handling equipment, complex engineered systems that have to work the first time, in environments that don't forgive mistakes.

Among our recent work is a launch and recovery system built for a major European Navy to support the rescue of submariners.

n

Our clients include major oil and gas operators, marine vessel owners and defence organisations globally. We hold our own IP, deliver Marine Classification Society certified systems, and design and manufacture our equipment from our facility in Dandenong South.

We're looking for an experienced Project Manager / Project Engineer who can take genuine ownership of complex engineering projects from handover through to final delivery.

n

The Role

n

Reporting to the Delivery Lead, you will own the end-to-end delivery of assigned projects across engineering, procurement, manufacture, testing, commissioning and customer handover.

n

This isn't a coordination-only role.

n

You'll be accountable for understanding what we've committed to deliver, establishing the plan to deliver it, driving the people and activities required to make it happen, and maintaining control of schedule, cost, scope, risk and customer commitments throughout the project.

n

You'll work across Engineering, Production, Supply Chain and commercial functions, with access to experienced technical specialists, but you own the project outcome.

What You'll Be Doing

n

Own assigned projects from internal handover through engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning and final delivery.

n

Establish clear project plans, schedules, milestones, responsibilities and reporting rhythms.

n

Maintain visibility of critical-path activities and dependencies and intervene early when delivery is at risk.

n

Manage project cost, scope, variations and commercial performance.

n

Maintain project risk and issue visibility and drive recovery actions to closure.

n





Manage customer communication throughout delivery and maintain clear expectations around progress, decisions and changes.

n

Ensure technical, quality, certification and documentation requirements are incorporated into the project plan.

n

Drive decisions and remove blockers rather than allowing issues to drift.

n

Maintain accurate project information and reporting within company systems.

n

Lead structured project close-out and capture lessons that improve future delivery.

What We're Looking For

n

We're looking for someone who is comfortable being accountable, not simply involved.

n

You'll ideally bring:

n

A Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or a related discipline.

n

5+ years' experience delivering complex engineering or manufacturing projects.

n

Demonstrated ownership of projects through the complete delivery lifecycle.

n

Strong project planning, scheduling and execution capability.

n

Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering, procurement and manufacturing activities.

n

Commercial awareness across project cost, forecast, scope, variations and margin.

n

Solid client and stakeholder management capability.

n

Confidence operating in environments where not everything is neatly defined at the outset.

n

The ability to identify emerging problems, make decisions and drive actions before they become delivery failures.

Project Manager or Project Engineer?

n

We're deliberately open on the title.

n

You may currently be a Project Manager with a strong technical background, or a Project Engineer who has progressed beyond technical coordination and is already taking genuine ownership of project delivery.

We're more interested in what you've actually delivered than what your current business calls you.

Highly Regarded

n

Offshore, marine, subsea or defence project experience.

n

Classification Society experience, including DNV, Lloyd's Register or ABS.

Fabrication or project-based manufacturing experience.

n

Experience delivering mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.

n

MS Project or similar project scheduling capability.

n

Experience with engineered-to-order equipment.
