Evinco Therapeutics is an innovative Melbourne-based biotechnology start-up focused on developing extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from immune cells, such as natural killer (NK) cells, as a novel therapeutic approach for brain disorders, including traumatic brain injury (TBI). Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) is a major global public health concern accounting for 75% to 90% of all traumatic brain injuries and affecting an estimated 42 million people worldwide annually, driven predominantly by falls, motor vehicle collisions, occupational hazards, and sports-related impacts. There are currently no disease-modifying treatments for mTBI.

Key responsibilities

n

As a core member of Evinco's R&D; team, you will:

n

- Lead the preclinical research program for TBI.
n
- Manage in vivo rodent studies, company animal ethics and data reporting.
n
- Develop and implement relevant in vitro cell-based assays to model TBI.
n
- Implement drug discovery workflows through EV candidate benchmarking.
n
- Generate preclinical reports suitable for regulatory submissions and present high-quality data.
n
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to drive R&D; programs to meet milestones to clinical trials.
n
- Manage external collaborations with academia, clinical and industry partners.
n

Qualifications and Experience

n





The ideal candidate will have:

n

n
- An MD or Postgraduate qualification in Neurobiology with preferred experience in TBI and/or concussion related research.
n
- Experience in preclinical/clinical trial preparation and documentation for the regulator.
n
- Experience with research animal handling, managing rodent cohorts, animal ethics documentation and management.
n
- Hands-on animal work, including rodent handling, surgical techniques, brain tissue preparation, histochemical staining, in vivo and ex vivo imaging, and administration of therapeutic agents via IV, IP and intranasal routes.
n
- Experience in using cell-based models to study brain damage and inflammation, through techniques including but not limited to: Western blot, ELISA, live cell imaging, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and cell function assays.
n
- Prior experience working in translational research and/or industry R&D; setting to evaluate novel therapeutic agents, preferably for TBI and concussion.
n
- Postdoctoral research experience desirable but not necessary to excel in role.
