Job Description

My client is an Australian owned technology consultancy moving to a current way of building software, where engineers write specs and direct AI coding tools. You'll split your time between hands on feature delivery inside a product squad and helping build out the tooling and practices that make this way of working stick.

What's involved

- Designing and building AI-driven features and the systems that support them, working closely with a senior technical lead

- Writing the specs that drive AI-assisted implementation
n
- Building integrations for agent tooling, including MCP connections and secure tool-calling setups
n
- Setting the bar on testing, secure coding practices and how AI-generated output gets evaluated
n




- Helping other engineers pick up spec-first workflows and get comfortable working alongside coding agents

What you'll bring

n

n
- Solid engineering fundamentals, not tied to one stack, with good judgement on architecture
n
- Real hands-on time with agent loops, MCP servers or similar tool-calling setups, ideally already working spec-first
n
- Working knowledge of at least one major model provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Vertex AI) and familiarity with MCP; LangChain or LangGraph
n
- Full stack experience

- 6 month initial contract, $700 a day plus GST
n
- Melbourne based, 2 to 3 days a week in office
