About the Role

n

We are seeking an experienced Principal Business Analyst to join a major Queensland Government ICT program delivering technology-enabled reform across a critical public service environment.

n

This is a high-profile transformation program involving the establishment of new ICT capabilities, modern case management technology and a centralised intelligence platform. You will play a key role in shaping business requirements, improving processes and ensuring technology solutions align with operational and strategic objectives.

n

Working closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams, project managers and subject matter experts, you will lead business analysis activities across complex projects and help deliver practical, effective outcomes.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Lead workshops and stakeholder consultations to elicit, analyse and document complex business requirements.
n
- Develop and optimise business processes using recognised modelling techniques, including BPMN and process flow diagrams.
n
- Collaborate with technical teams, architects and SMEs to define and evaluate technology solutions.
n
- Analyse complex business and digital transformation issues and contribute to options analysis, business cases and strategic recommendations.
n
- Manage requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment between business needs and technology outcomes.
n
- Build strong relationships across business, technical and executive stakeholder groups.
n
- Identify and support the management of business,



technology and delivery risks.
n
- Prepare high-quality documentation, reports, submissions and materials to support decision‐making and governance.
n
- Provide guidance and mentoring to other Business Analysts and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.
n
- Apply Agile and Waterfall methodologies and adapt business analysis approaches to suit project requirements.

Essential

- Demonstrated high‐level experience in business analysis and requirements elicitation, documentation and analysis.
n
- Experience facilitating workshops and consultations with diverse stakeholders.
n
- Experience with business process modelling, including process flow diagrams and BPMN.
n
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues and develop effective solutions.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement, consultation and negotiation skills.
n
- Experience working within cross‐functional and multidisciplinary teams.
n
- Experience assessing and mitigating IT‐related business risks.
n
- Experience working with governance, risk and quality standards.
n
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
n
- Experience across the end‐to‐end software development lifecycle.
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
n
- Ability to produce explicit technical documentation, policies, guidelines, reports and submissions.

Desirable

n

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or certifications in Business Analysis or a related discipline.
n
- Business analysis accreditation such as ECBA, CCBA or CBAP.
n
- Working knowledge of BABOK®.
n
- Working knowledge of requirements classification schema.
n
- Experience contributing to business cases, options analysis and strategic recommendations.
