Design Manager | Major Commercial Projects

$180,000 – $220,000 package

The Opportunity

Join a highly regarded and growing commercial construction business delivering complex, high-quality building projects across Melbourne .

With a strong reputation for technical capability, quality delivery and client relationships, the business is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join its project team and take ownership of the design process across major projects.

The Role

Working closely with senior project leadership, you will manage the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, coordinating consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors and internal project teams.

Key responsibilities include:

- Coordinate architects, consultants, engineers and specialist subcontractors
- Manage design programmes, documentation, approvals and deliverables
- Drive design coordination, constructability and buildability reviews
- Identify and resolve design issues and project risks
- Provide input into procurement, value management and design optimisation
- Work closely with construction and commercial teams to ensure design aligns with programme and budget
- Manage RFIs,



technical queries and design meetings
- Build strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders

About You

We are looking for an experienced Design Manager / Senior Design Manager with a strong commercial construction background.

You will ideally have:

- Proven experience managing design on complex commercial building projects within a Main Contractor Environment
- Solid technical and construction knowledge
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
- Excellent stakeholder and communication skills

- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of buildability
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach

Relevant qualifications in construction, engineering, architecture or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
