This is a full-time, office-based position located at our Mackay office.

As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will provide advanced technical support to CHAPtech and its clients. You will act as a senior escalation point for complex Level 2 and Level 3 technical issues, contribute to infrastructure projects and support the development of junior team members.

n

This role will suit an experienced Systems Administrator who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with clients and taking ownership of technical outcomes.

n

This is not a remote position. The successful applicant will be required to work from our Mackay Or Brisbane office during ordinary business hours, with onsite client attendance as required. Remote-only applicants will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Resolve new and escalated helpdesk tickets involving hardware, software, servers, networks, endpoints, Microsoft 365 and cloud systems
n
- Take ownership of complex, high-priority and recurring technical issues through to resolution.
n
- Provide advanced onsite troubleshooting, equipment installation, maintenance and technical support.
n
- Keep clients informed and maintain accurate ticket records and technical documentation.
n
- Act as a senior technical escalation point and provide guidance to junior Systems Administrators and service desk staff.
n
- Support and lead infrastructure, migration, cloud and technology projects.
n
- Perform system updates, patching, backup checks, monitoring and security maintenance.
n
- Identify technical, operational and cybersecurity risks and recommend improvements.
n
- Maintain compliance with CHAPtech's cybersecurity, privacy, information-handling and service-management requirements, including the secure handling of CHAPtech and client information.
n
- Work collaboratively with the Delivery Service Lead, Directors, clients, vendors and project teams.

About You

n





You will be an experienced and customer-focused IT professional who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with clients and taking ownership of technical outcomes.

n

n
- Demonstrated experience in systems administration, infrastructure support or senior technical support.
n
- Experience providing Level 2 and Level 3 technical support.
n
- Strong experience with Windows, Linux, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, networking and cloud environments.
n
- Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, LANs, VPNs, firewalls, switches, routers and wireless networks.
n
- Experience with virtualisation, backups, patching, system monitoring, scripting or automation.li>
n
- Experience contributing to or managing technical projects.
n
- Knowledge of ITIL incident, change and service-management principles.
n
- Strong problem-solving, communication and client-service skills.
n
- The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and guide junior team members.
n
- A current Queensland Open Driver Licence.
n
- Full working rights in Australia.
n
- A Diploma or higher qualification in Information Technology and relevant industry or vendor certifications.
n

The following will be highly regarded:

- Microsoft 365 certifications or advanced Microsoft 365 experience.
n
- Experience with Sophos, Kaseya, ConnectWise and AvePoint.
n
- Understanding of the SMB1001 Small Business Cyber Security Standard.
n
