We're currently recruiting for an Counsellor to join a well-established, welcoming not-for-profit community-based mental health service in Cairns. This is an opportunity to provide accessible, trauma-informed support to individuals and families while working alongside a multidisciplinary team and broader community services.

Permanent - Part-Time, 0.6 – 0.8 FTE, $88,090 + super + salary packaging

About the Role

n

You'll provide brief intervention, counselling, care coordination and referrals to people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD challenges, distress or crisis.



The service provides a low-stigma, accessible alternative to emergency departments, offering immediate, short and medium-term support before connecting people with ongoing services.

About You

n

We're looking for a compassionate and experienced Counsellor who can work confidently with people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD issues and complex psychosocial needs.

n

You will ideally have:

n

- A minimum Bachelor's qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy
n
- Current ACA Level 3+ or PACFA registration
n
- Experience working with AOD
n
- Experience supporting people with complex needs
n

n

This is a permanent part-time position, with opportunities available at 0.6–0.8 FTE.
