A leading Tier 2 Melbourne construction business is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join its project delivery team, with a robust focus on multi-residential apartment projects.
n This is an opportunity for a construction-focused Design Manager who understands the complexities of delivering apartment developments from design development and documentation through procurement and construction.

n

Working closely with Head of Design, Construction Managers, consultants and subcontractors, you will take ownership of the design management process across major apartment projects.
n You will be responsible from ECI, ensuring design is coordinated, buildable, commercially aligned and delivered to programme.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead design management across apartment and multi-residential projects
n
- Manage architects, engineers, consultants and specialist subcontractors
n
- Drive design coordination, documentation and constructability reviews
n
- Identify and resolve design, technical and coordination issues
n
- Manage design programmes, deliverables and approvals
n
- Work closely with construction teams to ensure design intent translates into efficient site delivery
n
- Support procurement, tendering and value management activities
n
- Review design changes and assess cost, programme and construction implications
n
- Coordinate authority requirements, consultant approvals and project interfaces
n
- Maintain strong communication between the design,



commercial and construction teams
n
- Contribute to buildability, quality and risk management throughout the project lifecycle
n

Ideal Profile

n

You will be an experienced Design Manager from a construction background, ideally with a proven track record delivering apartment or multi-residential projects.
n Candidates at Design Coordinator level may be considered.

- Strong construction-side design management experience
n
- Demonstrated apartment / multi-residential project experience
n
- Excellent knowledge of construction documentation and coordination
n
- Strong understanding of buildability, procurement and construction methodology
n
- The ability to manage multiple consultants and competing priorities
n
- Commercial awareness and confidence working with project budgets and programmes
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skillsA practical, solutions-focused approach to design management
n
- The ability to work collaboratively with senior project and construction leadership
n
