Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Diesel Mechanic / Workshop Assistant to join our team. This role is responsible for carrying out mechanical repairs, servicing, preventive maintenance and inspections on our truck and service vehicle fleet.

The successful applicant will take pride in producing high-quality workmanship, completing jobs safely and efficiently, and maintaining a clean and organised workshop.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Perform basic mechanical repairs and servicing on vehicles.
n
- Carry out preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
n
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues.
n
- Test drive vehicles to assess performance and confirm repairs have been completed correctly.
n
- Ensure all work meets required quality and safety standards.
n
- Complete repairs and maintenance within specified timeframes.
n
- Source required parts and materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.
n
- Keep truck logbooks and maintenance records up to date.
n
- Maintain detailed records of serviced and repaired vehicles.
n
- Follow established inspection procedures and checklists.
n
- Maintain an accurate parts inventory.
n
- Deal with day-to-day matters relating to the yard and workshop.
n
- Report completed works, issues and relevant updates to the Director at the end of each day.
n
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
n
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements and procedures.
n

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

- Experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic.
n
- Strong mechanical knowledge and practical problem-solving skills.
n
- A commitment to quality workmanship.
n
- The ability to work safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
n
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
n
- A reliable and responsible approach to work.
n
- The ability to source parts and manage workshop requirements effectively.
n
- Good communication skills and the ability to report directly to management.
n
- A robust focus on maintaining a clean and professional workshop.
n

Skills & Experience:

- Must be Mechanically minded
n
- Experience in maintaining service records
n
- Punctual and exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
n
- High attention to detail
n
- Must have current Driver's licence, Forklift and Truck licenses are an advantage.

- Welding skills (Preferred not essential)
