Randstad is hiring a Senior Independent Advisor to join our collaborative federal government team. We need a detail-oriented expert who excels at building strong relationships and tackling complex challenges.

About your new role

n

The Senior Independent Advisor is responsible for leading the development of independent, accessible policy advice and recommendations for executive leadership in alignment with established work plans and statutory functions. Working directly under the Council Principal Member, the role involves facilitating discussions across the advisory council and its reference groups, running external stakeholder steering groups, and conducting research to ensure participant voices shape key advice, papers, and formal correspondence. Additionally, the position provides strategic governance support such as contributing to annual planning and member inductions while directly supervising and mentoring a small team.

What you will need to exceed

- Proven track record in writing complex,



high-level policy advice, board papers, and ministerial submissions in plain English and accessible formats.

- Experience running inclusive consultations and working directly with diverse community cohorts and people with disability.

- Practical experience managing teams, setting priorities, and mentoring lower-level advisors or staff.
n
- Demonstrated background in analysing both quantitative and qualitative data to support evidence-based recommendations.
n
- Capability to lead complex meeting discussions, synthesise wide-ranging input, and manage advice steering groups with external stakeholders.
