As a Principal Engineer, you'll set and embed technical standards, design principles and review practices across the Queensland Housing team. You'll help build scalable technical governance, develop future technical leaders and operate credibly with builders, developers, certifiers and senior client stakeholders.

What You'd Do

- Set and embed technical standards, design principles and review practices across the Queensland Housing team.
- Provide senior technical review and certification on complex or higher-risk work, while developing certification and review capability across the team.
- Lead or oversee complex and higher-risk residential and building engineering matters, supporting key design decisions while engineers retain day-to-day project ownership.
- Provide technical direction and act as a senior escalation point for complex, unusual or higher-risk engineering matters.
- Coach engineers through complex decisions, building technical judgement, accountability and capability across the team.
- Build trusted client relationships, understand client drivers and provide practical technical advice that creates value and supports long-term partnerships.
- Improve technical governance, design standards,



review processes and knowledge sharing to lift quality, consistency and capability across the team.
- Identify opportunities, support proposals and client conversations, and use technical expertise to help retain and grow work in the Queensland market.
- Provide senior technical input on complex or specialist matters where required.

What you bring

We're Looking For a Technically Strong Engineer Who Can Lead By Example And Help Others Do Their Best Work. Ideally, You'll Bring

- 10+ years' experience in structural engineering, with a strong background in residential and building engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ), or eligibility to obtain registration.
- RPEQ, or the ability to obtain RPEQ, with Chartered status or equivalent highly regarded.
- Strong working knowledge of the National Construction Code, Australian Standards (including AS 2870) and Queensland building requirements.
- Experience with site classifications, footing and slab design, and residential structural documentation.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop engineers and support staff.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with builders, developers, certifiers and Councils.
- A collaborative mindset with a focus on quality, continuous improvement and practical outcomes.
- Bachelor of Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent, from a recognised tertiary institution.
