Private Practice Subcontractor - headspace

The Allied Health Professional is a member of the headspace Fraser Coast Team and will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team. The incumbent will provide high quality psycho-social assessment and evidence-based focused psychological strategies for young people aged 12-25 referred to headspace, within the guidelines of the Medicare Better Access to Mental Health Care initiatives. To participate in a multi-disciplinary team, maximising care outcomes for young people referred to the service.

You’ll deliver this by:

- Provide evidence-based, focused psychological strategies (e.g. CBT, psycho-education, relaxation strategies, skills training, interpersonal therapy) to individuals or via group therapy to young people aged 12-25 years.
- Maintain accurate case notes for clients using an electronic clinical record and according to headspace Fraser Coast protocols and professional standards
- Participate in care planning and case review meetings, contribute to care plans and participate in planned case conferences with other health professionals involved in the client’s care as appropriate.
- Provide written reports to the clients referring bodies with information regarding assessments undertaken, care provided, and recommendations on future management of the client’s social and mental wellbeing, according to headspace Fraser Coast protocols and professional standards.
- Consults with the multi-disciplinary team as required for care coordination.

What We’re Looking For

- The applicable degree level qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work,



Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or related discipline.
- Registered / Eligible Medicare Provider (as a Private Practitioner your income will be derived directly from Medicare Billings, so you will need to be eligible to provide services under the Medicare benefits Scheme (MBS – Better Access).
- ABN or willing and eligible to obtain
- Able to apply for and provide a unique Medicare Provider Number.
- Qualified Indemnity Insurance.
- Experience in the assessment and treatment of young people within a mental health program.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills with the ability to ensure that information is passed on to others who should be kept informed and to express yourself clearly and appropriately in verbal and written interactions.
- Demonstrated innovation and flexibility with the ability to develop, or support the introduction of new and improved ideas, projects, solutions, methods, products, procedures, or technologies and gain others’ support. Openness to different and new ways of doing things with a willingness to modify your preferred way of doing things.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively when under pressure and maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
- Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
