About Project Superhero

n

Project Superhero is a specialist transdisciplinary paediatric early intervention team supporting children aged approximately 18 months to 8 years with autism and developmental delays, alongside their families.

n

Our approach is child-centred, play-based and routines-based. We draw on evidence-based approaches including the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a Naturalistic Developmental Behavioural Intervention (NDBI), to help children build meaningful skills through play, relationships and everyday experiences.

n

Our team works within a key worker model. Each therapist develops a close working relationship with the child and family while drawing on the knowledge and support of our wider transdisciplinary team across speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology and early intervention.

n

About the Role

n

We are looking for a Speech Pathologist to join our growing early intervention team.

n

This is a mobile, community-based role rather than a clinic-based position. Our clinicians work with children primarily in their homes, early learning or school environments and other community settings.

n

We work this way deliberately. Young children communicate, play and learn within everyday relationships and routines, and working in these natural environments allows us to understand what is happening in real life, support the adults around the child and help skills generalise beyond a therapy room.

n

Travel between appointments is therefore part of the role, and travel time between therapy sessions is paid. We aim to build sensible caseloads and schedules that minimise unnecessary travel wherever possible.

n

If you enjoy getting out of the clinic, working closely with families and educators, and seeing a child in the environments where their everyday life actually happens, this role may be a particularly good fit.

Within the role, you will:

n

- Deliver individualised, strengths-based early intervention within home, education and community settings
n




- Bring your speech pathology expertise to children's communication, interaction and participation goals
n
- Work collaboratively with parents, caregivers and educators and build their confidence to support children within everyday routines
n
- Develop and review meaningful goals in partnership with families and the broader team
n
- Work within a key worker model, progressively developing confidence in case coordination with supervision and support
n
- Collaborate closely with clinicians from speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychology and other early intervention backgrounds
n
- Participate in ESDM training and ongoing clinical development
n
- Maintain clear, respectful and timely communication and documentation
n

Who We're Looking For

n

We welcome applications from Certified Practising Speech Pathologists (CPSPs), including provisional CPSPs and new graduates, with current Speech Pathology Australia membership.

n

Recent graduates and early-career Speech Pathologists are strongly encouraged to apply. We are much more interested in finding someone with the right approach to children, families and learning than someone who already knows everything.

Skills and Experience

n

We are looking for someone with:

n

n
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
n
- Current or eligible Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia
n
- An understanding of, or genuine interest in, early childhood development and the way young children learn, communicate and connect
n
- An interest in play-based, naturalistic approaches to early intervention
n
- Experience with autistic children and/or children with developmental delays in any capacity — including clinical, educational, disability support, volunteer, family or lived experience
n
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
n
- A willingness to work across children's home,



education and community environments
n
- An interest in learning the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM)
n
- A current Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
n
- A current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
n
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates, or willingness to obtain them
n
- A valid Australian driver's licence and access to a reliable car
n
