Programmed are currently seeking an experienced Fleet Controller to join an established waste management business based in Thomastown.

Operating a fleet of approximately 50 vehicles, the business specialises in waste collection services for high-rise residential buildings, apartment complexes and commercial properties across Melbourne.

n

This is a hands‐on operational role where you'll take ownership of the daily fleet, drivers and collection schedules, working closely with drivers, customers, the workshop and management to keep the operation running smoothly.

Thomastown VIC | Permanent Full Time | $100,000 – $120,000 + Super | Mon-Fri 6:00am – 3:00pm

About the Role

n

As Fleet Controller, you'll coordinate the daily operation of approximately 50 vehicles and drivers, ensuring scheduled services are completed safely, efficiently and on time.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Planning and scheduling daily driver runs and collection services
n
- Allocating vehicles and drivers to scheduled work
n
- Managing driver availability, absences and schedule changes
n
- Monitoring driver progress and resolving operational issues
n
- Rescheduling missed or delayed collections
n
- Providing direction, support and feedback to drivers
n
- Managing customer and site issues
n
- Ensuring jobs are accurately completed and closed off for invoicing
n
- Using Wastedge to manage customers, schedules and operational information
n
- Monitoring driver performance and operational KPIs
n
- Working closely with the mechanical workshop
n
- Supporting driver inductions, training and toolbox meetings
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve fleet utilisation and operational efficiency
n
- Ensuring compliance with relevant transport, fatigue, OH&S; and Chain of Responsibility requirements

About You

n

Previous experience in fleet control,



fleet allocation or transport allocation is essential.

n

We're looking for someone who has genuine hands‐on experience coordinating vehicles, allocating drivers and managing the day‐to‐day operation of a busy fleet.

n

You will have:

n

n
- Previous experience as a Fleet Controller, Fleet Allocator, Transport Allocator or in a closely related fleet allocation role
n
- Proven experience coordinating and communicating with drivers
n
- Strong scheduling, allocation and organisational skills
n
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and make decisions under pressure
n
- Strong communication and problem‐solving skills
n
- Good computer skills and confidence using operational systems
n
- An understanding of transport compliance, fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility
n

n

Experience within the waste management industry would be highly beneficial, particularly exposure to waste collection, bin collection/pick‐up operations, waste trucks or servicing high‐rise and restricted‐access sites.

n

Experience using Wastedge is highly desirable and considered critical to the role.

This role would suit an experienced Fleet Controller, Fleet Allocator or Transport Allocator who enjoys planning, managing drivers, coordinating vehicles and solving problems in a fast‐paced setting.

n

Waste management experience is an advantage, but not essential - strong fleet allocation and transport coordination experience is the key requirement.
