Afternoon Shift Operations Supervisor - Freight & Logistics

Allied Express is looking for an experienced and hands-on Supervisor to join our Melbourne PM Shift operation based in Broadmeadows.

n

This is a key leadership role responsible for coordinating daily operational activities, managing freight and warehouse movements, maintaining service standards, and ensuring the safe and efficient flow of freight throughout our network. You will work closely with freight handlers and fellow supervisors to deliver exceptional operational outcomes.

About the Role

n

Reporting to the PM Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:

n

- Supervising daily operational activities to ensure service commitments are achieved
n
- Coordinating inbound and outbound freight movements and supporting efficient freight flow throughout the depot
n
- Monitoring operational performance and proactively resolving service and operational issues
n
- Leading, coaching, and supporting drivers, contractors, and operational staff
n
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, and safety procedures
n
- Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and service performance
n
- Assisting with workforce planning, scheduling, and operational reporting
n
- Supporting warehouse, freight handling, and loading operations as required

About You

n

To be successful in this role, you will have: To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous supervisory experience within a transport, freight, logistics, warehousing, or distribution environment

n

Solid understanding of operational workflows, freight movements, and depot operations

n

Solid knowledge of freight handling, warehousing, and loading/unloading practices

n

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

n

Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities

n

The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities

n

A customer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellence

n

Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and operational management systems

n

A strong commitment to workplace safety and operational compliance

n

Successful completion of a police check and medical assessment (paid for by Allied)

n

Shift: Monday to Friday, commencing at 2:00pm

n
