Job Description

Agricultural Technician for vegetable farms L & R Khakh located in Shepparton East, Victoria.

n

Key responsibilities

n

Soil testing and assessing the terrain, physical and soil characteristics of the orchards to identify nutrient deficiencies and determine the most effective use of chemicals and fertilisers

n

Assisting in developing current methods of planting, fertilising, harvesting and processing crops to achieve optimum land usage

n

Identifying micro-organisms and insects, parasites, fungi and weeds harmful to crops, and assisting in devising methods of control

n

Assessing the produce to set and maintain standards of quality to meet market requirements

n

Ordering and arranging the supply of chemicals and fertilisers to Farm Managers, and giving advice on their use in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Regulations

n

Collecting and collating data for research

n

Assessing all planting, harvesting and other aspects of production processes

n

Provide reports to advise producers on farming techniques and management

n

Train other staff working on the farms in improved production techniques
