Locations: Springwood Heath Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School

Hours: Monday to Friday, 3pm–6pm during term time

n

Additional hours: Holiday-club work may be available during school holidays

Responsible to: Owner/Manager and Deputy Manager

Purpose of the role

n

The Play Worker will help provide a safe, caring, welcoming and enjoyable environment for children attending Garston Parkways Kids Club. They will support children's individual needs, supervise play and activities, and ensure that safeguarding and welfare remain the highest priority.

Main duties and responsibilities

n

The Play Worker will be expected to:

n

- Welcome children into the club and help them feel happy, safe and included.
n
- Collect children safely from their classrooms or agreed collection points.
n
- Complete or check registers and ensure all children are accounted for.
n
- Supervise children closely throughout the session, including during indoor play, outdoor play, mealtimes and organised activities.
n
- Plan, prepare and lead enjoyable, age-appropriate activities based on the children's interests.
n
- Provide a varied programme including arts and crafts, sports, games, imaginative play, outdoor play and quiet activities.
n
- Encourage children to make their own choices and take part without putting pressure on them.
n




- Adapt activities so that children of different ages, abilities and additional needs can participate.
n
- Support children with special educational needs or disabilities in accordance with their individual requirements.
n
- Promote positive behaviour using calm, consistent and age-appropriate approaches.
n
- Encourage kindness, respect, independence, confidence and positive relationships between children.
n
- Prepare and serve snacks and drinks while following food hygiene and allergy procedures.
n
- Follow the club's procedures regarding dietary requirements, allergies and medication.
n
- Help set up the club before children arrive and clean, tidy and safely store equipment at the end of each session.
n
- Check toys, play equipment and activity areas for damage or potential hazards.
n
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with children and families.
n
- Communicate politely and professionally with parents, carers, school staff and colleagues.
n
- Assist with the protected collection of children and follow the club's password and authorised-collector procedures.
n
- Complete accident, incident, behaviour and safeguarding records accurately when required.
n
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families and staff.
n
- Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions and required training.
n
- Follow all Garston Parkways Kids Club policies and procedures.
