About The Role

This is a Fixed Term Position until 20 August 2027.

The Lawyer supports DTP’s response to the Royal Commission into integrity in the construction industry. Working under senior legal practitioners, the role conducts legal research and analysis, prepares advice and briefing materials, reviews documents and information, and assists with responses to Royal Commission notices and information requests. The role also supports the coordination of legal matters by maintaining records, monitoring deadlines and escalating issues. It works closely with Legal, the Royal Commission Response Team, DTP stakeholders and external advisers, contributing to a collaborative team while ensuring information and evidence are managed accurately, securely and in line with legal and procedural obligations.

- Applies sound legal research and analysis skills to identify relevant issues and prepare clear, accurate legal advice, briefs and correspondence.
- Understands litigation, inquiry and investigation processes, supporting legal matters while managing procedural requirements, deadlines and emerging risks.
- Builds solid stakeholder relationships, communicates professionally and works collaboratively to obtain information and resolve issues.
- Demonstrates resilience and adaptability,



managing changing priorities, competing deadlines and sensitive matters with a constructive and persistent approach.
- Contributes positively to a supportive team environment, sharing knowledge, assisting colleagues and working towards shared priorities.

Qualifications And Experience

You’ll bring:

- Be an Australian lawyer under the Legal Profession Uniform Law (Victoria), holding or eligible to hold an Australian practising certificate.
- Demonstrated experience in legal research, analysis and drafting legal advice or documentation, applying legislation, case law and legal principles to factual circumstances under appropriate supervision (mandatory).
- Knowledge or experience in administrative law, statutory interpretation, litigation, dispute resolution, inquiries or investigations, with 2+ years PAE and experience supporting legal matters involving information gathering, document review or discovery (desirable).
