About the Role

n

We're looking for a hands-on Product Support Engineer to join our Hardware & Product Operations teams. This role bridges design, manufacturing, and the field — refurbishing and servicing hardware, building prototypes and first article builds, and troubleshooting hardware issues so our products stay reliable in the hands of customers.

You'll work closely with engineering, moving between the workshop bench, the factory floor, and client sites to keep Bodd's precision hardware performing at its best.

What You'll Be Doing

n

Scanner Refurbishment & Servicing

n

n
- Refurbish returned or in-service scanners to bring them back to full working condition
n
- Service mechanical parts such as gears and motors, and carry out repairs to keep units within specification
n
- Re-lay cabling and refit electronic parts as part of servicing and repair work
n

Build Support

n

n
- Support prototype builds, working closely with engineering to assemble and test early-stage units
n
- Support first article builds, helping validate that production processes and components meet design intent
n

n

Troubleshooting & Verification

n

n
- Troubleshoot hardware and mechanical faults using structured root cause analysis methods
n
- Carry out verification activities in line with Bodd's design and development process, documenting results clearly
n




- Feed findings back to engineering to support continuous improvement
n

Field Support & Commissioning

n

n
- Travel to client sites to provide responsive, skilled field support
n
- Assist with commissioning activities at Bodd's site and at the contract manufacturer's site, ensuring units are set up and functioning correctly before handover
n

n

What We're Looking For

n

n
- Demonstrated experience as a hardware device-based engineer, ideally with exposure to complex electromechanical equipment
n
- Practical experience with automation-related equipment or processes
n
- Experience servicing or repairing mechanical components such as gears, motors, cabling, and electronic assemblies
n
- Experience building electronic prototype and/or first article builds in a manufacturing or product development environment
n
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for hardware and mechanical design faults
n
- Comfortable travelling interstate or internationally to work directly with clients at their sites, with strong communication and professionalism
n
- 1–2 years' post-qualification experience in a relevant technical, mechatronic, or electromechanical field
n
- A tertiary qualification in Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. In some cases a trade qualification or diploma holders can be considered if they have several years of industry experience.

- Experience working within a formal design and development or quality management process

- Exposure to contract manufacturer environments and commissioning activities

- Willingness and ability to travel to client sites as required
