About the Role

n

Reporting to the Open Space & Recreation Planning Team Leader, you will lead the development, review and implementation of Plans of Management (PoMs) and contribute to broader open space and recreation initiatives.

n

You will work closely with internal Council teams, community stakeholders, consultants and external partners to ensure community land is managed effectively, sustainably and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Lead the development, review and implementation of generic and site-specific Plans of Management.
n
- Manage open space and recreation projects across scope, time, cost, quality, risk, procurement and stakeholder engagement.
n




- Provide specialist advice on community land, open space and recreation matters.
n
- Lead community consultation and stakeholder engagement activities.
n
- Undertake research, analysis and strategic planning to support open space outcomes.
n
- Prepare high-quality Council reports, policies, strategies and planning documentation.
n
- Work with GIS and other internal teams to support accurate open space data and planning.
n
- Provide strategic advice to senior staff on complex and sensitive open space matters.
n
- Support the implementation, monitoring and review of open space and recreation strategies.
n

About You

n

You will be an experienced open space, parks, recreation or project management professional with a strong understanding of working within a local government workplace.

n

You will ideally have:

n

n
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Environmental/Land Management or a related discipline.
n
- Demonstrated experience in open space planning, parks, recreation or community land management.
n
- Proven experience developing, reviewing or implementing Plans of Management.
n
- Robust knowledge of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.
n
- Demonstrated project management experience, including procurement, risk, budgets, timelines and stakeholder management.
n
- Experience leading community consultation and engagement.
n
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, policies, strategies and presentations.
n
- Experience working within Local or State Government will be highly regarded.
n
- IAP2 accreditation will be considered advantageous.
