Berwick College is a Year 7-12 coeducational school with a student population of approximately 1600 students. The College is located on Bunurong Country, in the beautiful south eastern suburb of Berwick.

Berwick College delivers a rigorous curriculum with a huge range of individualised pathways. We support our students to become critical and creative thinkers in areas of passion and interest. Teachers implement the school¿s Instructional Model to guide their practice and use our `Effective Learning Environment¿ and SWPBS guidelines to support positive behaviours across the school.

Selection Criteria

SC1Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage the implementation of school priorities, and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills across the curriculum.

SC2Demonstrated ability to lead the planning and implementation of high impact teaching strategies that respond to student learning needs. Demonstrated ability to support teachers to evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

SC3Demonstrated exemplary ability to monitor and assess student learning at a class, cohort or whole-school level and use this data to lead improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to support others in using data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

SC4Demonstrated exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader school community focused on student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

Role

The Learning Leader is an educational leader who is committed to continuous school improvement. As a member of the Berwick College Leadership Team, the Learning Leader is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of initiatives related to the Key Improvement Strategies of the School Strategic Plan.

The Learning Leader will lead the actions to achieve these key improvement strategies:

- Build teacher capacity and collaboration in curriculum and assessment design and documentation which is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0

- Embed a purposeful use of data to cater for all learning needs
n
- Use student learning data to enhance student agency and opportunities for feedback
n
- Improve teacher capability to implement instructional practices in line with the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0
n
- Build leadership capability to ensure collective responsibility to improve instructional practices
n
- Develop and embed a leadership framework for wellbeing and inclusion through a tiered approach to enable a positive learning environment across all classrooms

- Embed the college identity in a culture of excellence
n
- Strengthen student agency, leadership and voice in learning.

- Work collaboratively within the Leadership Team to ensure that student needs are at the centre of highly effective curriculum planning and assessment programs

- Lead, and contribute to, effective communication processes and practices across the school community

- Lead and implement transition processes into and through the school
n
- Contribute to the leadership of curriculum and pedagogical responses to student learning data on individual, year level and whole school levels
n
- Contribute to the processes and procedures that enable the collection of effective student achievement and wellbeing data
n
- Collaborate with members of the Leadership Team to lead the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 at Year 8
n
- In collaboration with Leadership Team members, implement the Schoolwide positive behaviour framework and build capacity of middle leaders and teaching staff to consistently and effectively respond to student behaviour
n
- Work collaboratively to ensure students are able to exert influence on, and participate fully in, the classroom and programs across the school.
n
- Enhance the capacity of all teachers to deliver a differentiated curriculum
n
- Enhance the capacity of all teachers to embed common instructional practices based on the Berwick College Instructional Model and the VTLM 2.0
n
- In collaboration with team members, ensure Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and Student Safety Plans are effective and used by teachers to support every student at their point of learning.
n
- Lead a student culture based on the values of the school
n

In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:
