PetroChina International Investment （Australia） Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Reservoir Engineer to join our team in Brisbane, Queensland. This is a full time position based in our Brisbane office at QLD 4000. As a Reservoir Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and coordinating reservoir engineering activities to ensure the quality, technical integrity and timely delivery of reservoir modelling, simulation and development planning outcomes.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate and oversee third-party technical service providers in conducting coal seam gas (CSG) static modelling, agile reservoir simulation and development plan preparation, ensuring that model quality, technical proposals and project schedules meet project requirements. Review and accept technical deliverables and provide conclusive technical recommendations to the shareholders.
- Act as the technical management focal point, maintaining close communication with shareholders and ensuring timely communication of field technical progress and requirements for plan adjustments. Manage day-to-day technical liaison and coordination with the operating company, participate in technical meetings between shareholders, and prepare and submit bilingual (Chinese and English) presentation and reporting materials that accurately reflect the project's technical status and the Chinese shareholder’s key concerns.
- Coordinate the tracking and analysis of daily CSG production performance, and organise third-party technical service providers to conduct regular reservoir engineering studies, including material balance analysis, decline curve analysis and well test interpretation.



Consolidate the study findings and provide recommendations for production optimization.
- Prepare and complete technical management reports, presentation materials and other documentation required by the project and requested by shareholders, including but not limited to monthly, quarterly and annual production performance analysis reports, preparation and consolidation of supporting data for reserves re-estimation, and development performance evaluations, ensuring accuracy, consistent formatting and timely delivery.
- Undertake other technical management and coordination activities related to CSG development as required by the project, including evaluation of new technologies, coordination of external expert consultations, and organization of internal technical training.

What we are looking for

- Master's degree in petroleum engineering, Geological Engineering or a related discipline
- Proficiency with reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse, Petrel RE or equivalent platforms
- Strong understanding of reservoir mechanics, fluid properties, phase behavior and flow regimes
- Experience with pressure transient analysis
- Competency in reserves estimation methodologies and volumetric assessments
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a technical environment




- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Professional communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
- Proficiency in standard office software and data visualization tools
- Preferred: Experience with enhanced oil recovery techniques and unconventional reservoirs
- Preferred: Knowledge of Australian regulatory frameworks and offshore operational standards
- Preferred: Professional registration as an Engineer or candidate for registration
