Data Solution Architect - Snowflake on AWS

Our client is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect to join a major data modernisation program focused on migrating on-premises data platforms to Snowflake on AWS. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in defining target-state architecture, driving cloud data transformation, and delivering scalable, secure, and governed data solutions within a complex enterprise environment.

The Opportunity
n As the Data Solution Architect, you will translate high-level data architecture and business requirements into end-to-end solution designs. You will work closely with stakeholders across architecture, engineering, security, governance, and business teams to architect and guide the migration of enterprise data workloads into a modern Snowflake and AWS ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Assess current-state data environments, source systems, interfaces, and dependencies.
n
- Define target-state data architecture across Snowflake and AWS.
n
- Design data ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, and consumption frameworks.
n
- Develop architecture patterns for batch, incremental, and near real-time data processing.
n
- Provide technical leadership across Snowflake architecture, including databases, schemas, warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks.
n
- Guide migration and modernisation initiatives from on-premises platforms to cloud-based solutions.
n
- Establish data governance, quality, lineage, metadata, and security standards.
n
- Define architecture principles covering scalability, resilience, performance, observability, and cost optimisation.
n
- Produce architecture artefacts including solution designs, data flow diagrams, standards, and architecture decision records.
n




- Provide architecture governance and design assurance throughout delivery and transition to support teams.

Required Experience

n

n
- Proven experience as a Data Architect or Data Solution Architect in enterprise environments.
n
- Strong hands-on architecture expertise with Snowflake.
n
- Deep understanding of AWS data services, data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and enterprise data modelling.
n
- Experience delivering cloud migration and data modernisation initiatives.
n
- Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata, lineage, security, and compliance frameworks.
n
- Experience designing highly scalable, secure, and production-ready data platforms.
n
- Knowledge of DataOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and automated deployment practices.
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical teams.

Highly Regarded

n

- Experience within banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.
n
- Snowflake certifications.
n
- AWS certifications.
n
- TOGAF or enterprise architecture framework experience.
n
- Exposure to Power BI and enterprise analytics solutions.
n
