An established Australian steel furniture manufacturer in Altona North is seeking an experienced Working Foreman to join our team.

Lead by example , take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our workshop

Attractive working hours with an early finish on Fridays.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on tradesperson to step into a key leadership role and take over from our long-serving Foreman, who is retiring.

About the role

n

You will coordinate the day-to-day running of the workshop while remaining actively involved in steel fabrication, assembly and manufacturing.

n

Your responsibilities will include:

n

- Coordinating daily workshop activities and allocating jobs.
n
- Managing workflow, priorities and production schedules.
n
- Reading CAD drawings and job cards.
n
- Ensuring quality, specifications and tolerances are met.
n
- Supporting and guiding workshop employees.
n
- Monitoring materials, equipment and production requirements.
n
- Promoting a safe and productive workplace.
n
- Communicating production requirements to management.
n
- Learning to operate our laser tube cutting machine.
n

No previous laser tube cutting experience is required - full training will be provided.

About you

n

n
- You will ideally have experience in steel fabrication,



manufacturing or a related trade, along with:
n
- The ability to read and interpret CAD drawings and job cards.
n
- Solid fabrication and workshop knowledge.
n
- Previous Leading Hand or Foreman experience, or the confidence to step into leadership.
n
- A hands-on, mechanically minded approach.
n
- Pride in quality workmanship and attention to detail.
n
- Good communication, organisation and computer skills.
n
- A reliable attitude and commitment to workplace safety.
n

Hours

n

Monday to Thursday, 7:30am-4:00pm; Friday, 7:30am-1:30pm.
n Expected overtime is a minimum of five hours per week, with additional overtime available when required.

Remuneration will be based on experience and suitability.
