Job Description

As a Refrigeration Design Engineer, you will be responsible and play a key role for the design, development, and technical delivery of innovative commercial refrigeration appliance systems. Working closely with a collaborative internal team and external stakeholders, whilst ensuring designs are technically robust, reliable, compliant with relevant standards, cost-effective, manufacturable, and delivered on time.

Key responsibilities

n

Design and develop commercial refrigeration systems and appliances.

n

Perform refrigeration engineering calculations, including heat load analysis, equipment selection, and system sizing.

n

Manage and conduct energy performance testing.

n

Prepare and maintain Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs;), technical specifications, engineering documentation, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

n

Create and modify 3D models and engineering drawings using SolidEdge.

n

Ensure designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.

n

Coordinate design activities with internal and external electrical and mechanical engineering teams.

n

Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to production.

n

Assist with quotations and business development activities by providing technical expertise.

n





Work closely with purchasing and manufacturing teams to optimise product design, (DfM) manufacturability, and overall product cost savings.

n

Participate in design reviews, value engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.

n

Liaise and participate in global technical working groups.

About you

n

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline.

n

Minimum of 3 years' experience in refrigeration design engineering.

n

Proven experience designing commercial refrigeration systems and appliances.

n

Strong knowledge of refrigeration principles, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system integration.

n

Proficiency in CAD design software, with Solid Edge experience highly regarded.

n

Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles and best practices.

n

Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and industry regulations.

n

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

n

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

n

Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

n
