Female Disability Support Worker (Dementia Experience Required)

About the role

We are looking for experienced and caring Disability Support Workers to join our team and provide 1:1 and 2:1 support to a participant living with advanced dementia and complex health needs.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, calm and compassionate and who enjoys making a real difference in someone's day-to-day life. Shift times are either 8am to 1 pm or 12 pm to 6 pm.

You will support the participant with:

- Personal care and daily routines
- Mobility, transfers and repositioning
- Meals and fluid intake
- Community access and meaningful activities
- Emotional support and reassurance
- Communication and changing needs
- Maintaining dignity, privacy and choice
- Following support, behaviour and health plans
- Completing progress notes and reporting any concerns

The participant is receiving palliative care, so you will need to be comfortable providing comfort-focused support and supporting someone experiencing changes in their health.

About you

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:





- Dementia experience is required in order to be considered for this role
- A strong understanding of the NDIS and participant support requirements
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to respond to the needs of people with a disability
- Experienced in implementing positive behaviour support strategies to manage complex behaviours
- Experience supporting NDIS participants with physical and psychosocial disabilities
- Calm, patient and gentle
- Caring, compassionate and respectful
- Observant and able to notice changes in the participant's health or behaviour
- Passion for building strong relationships and rapport with participants
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Ability to complete detailed and accurate documentation
- First Aid Certificate
- Drivers Licence
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination
- Legal working rights in Australia
