As the Textile Laboratory Technician, you will take responsibility for end-to-end laboratory testing and product evaluation across production, quality and development activities. Your work will support the continued improvement of product quality, performance, commercial value and sustainability. Working closely with the Technical Manager, Plant Manager and production team, you will see the direct impact of your work across both day-to-day manufacturing and future product development.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct routine and non-routine testing of loomstate and finished fabrics
- Verify products against specifications, quality requirements and performance criteria
- Perform process-control sampling and testing to support manufacturing
- Operate textile testing equipment, including hydrostatic head and spray rating testing equipment
- Assist with coating formulations for production and product-development activities
- Conduct chemical and physical evaluations of coatings and raw materials
- Support laboratory trials, research and new product-development projects
- Work with technical and production teams to investigate results and improve processes
- Maintain accurate laboratory records,
job sheets, batch samples and testing data
- Enter and maintain laboratory information within the company's ERP and database systems
About you
- Approximately two or more years of experience within a textile laboratory
- Practical knowledge of yarns, woven fabrics and fabric construction
- Hands-on experience using textile testing equipment
- Experience with hydrostatic head, spray rating or comparable textile performance tests
- An understanding of process improvement within a laboratory or manufacturing workplace
- Working knowledge of ISO 9000 principles and laboratory quality systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
- Confidence communicating with technical, production, sales and management stakeholders
- Strong organisation and time-management skills
