About the Role

n

We are seeking a thoughtful and ambitious Speech and Language Therapist to join Vines Therapy as a Clinical Partner: Speech and Language Therapist .

n

The position has a strong mixed case focus. You will provide assessment and intervention across communication, social interaction, multimodal communication and swallowing, according to your experience and professional scope.

n

Communication is more than a clinical skill. It is central to a person's agency, identity, relationships and participation. You will help clients communicate their preferences, exercise choice, build connections and participate more fully in everyday life.

n

You will also work closely with our Core Support Team (CST) to translate communication strategies into consistent practice in clients' homes and communities. This is an opportunity to deliver excellent therapy while helping shape a growing Speech and Language Therapy service within therapy.

Key Responsibilities

n

Clinical Assessment and Intervention

n

n
- Conduct comprehensive assessments across speech, language, functional communication, social communication, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and swallowing or dysphagia.
n
- Develop participation-focused therapy plans aligned with each client's priorities, circumstances, funding and intended outcomes.
n
- Deliver evidence-informed intervention for adults and children across hub, community and telehealth settings.
n
- Support adults with neurological conditions, psychosocial disability, cognitive or communication changes and complex support needs.
n




- Provide swallowing and mealtime assessment and intervention within your demonstrated competence and professional scope.
n
- Support children with developmental speech, language, communication and participation needs.
n
- Adapt therapy for neurodivergent people and clients from diverse cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds.
n
- Prepare high-quality clinical notes, assessment reports, progress reports and NDIS funding recommendations.
n

Integrative Practice and Capacity Building

n

n
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Psychologists, Therapy Associates and other professionals to develop coordinated therapy plans.
n
- Coach Core Support Workers to implement communication, AAC and participation strategies during everyday support and community-access activities.
n
- Build the capability of families, carers and support teams to embed communication and swallowing-safety strategies into daily routines.
n
- Participate in transdisciplinary case discussions, collaborative formulation and coordinated service planning.
n
- Contribute to the continued development of Speech and Language Therapy

Caseload and Operational Practice

n

n
- Manage a sustainable caseload while maintaining high standards of clinical reasoning, service delivery and client experience.
n
- Complete clinical notes, reports and other documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
n
- Use agreed outcome measures to monitor progress, demonstrate impact and support funding recommendations.
n
- Participate in the Monday Team Rhythm, professional development activities and regular transdisciplinary case conferences.
n
- Contribute to the selection and development of assessment tools, therapeutic resources, digital systems and service products.
n
- Work in accordance with Vines Therapy policies, clinical governance requirements and NDIS Practice Standards.

Work Rhythm

n

The position combines work at our Essendon Hub with community-based service delivery.

n

n
- Hub-Based and Community based Caseload: Generally three to four client appointments per day.
n
- Coordinated Planning: Community appointments are geographically clustered wherever possible to reduce unnecessary travel.
n
- Caseload Development: Your caseload will be introduced progressively during your orientation and settling-in period.
n

Support and Supervision

n

You will report to the Clinical Director and receive:

- Structured internal and external clinical supervision.
n
- Regular access to the Clinical Director and transdisciplinary colleagues.
n
- Support with complex presentations, dysphagia practice and professional decision-making.
n
- A gradual caseload ramp-up with clear expectations and regular check-ins.
n
- Opportunities to contribute to service development, clinical resources and future Vines Therapy products.
n

About You

n

Essential Requirements

n

n
- A recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology or Speech and Language Therapy.
n
- Current Certified Practising Speech Pathologist status with Speech Pathology Australia, or eligibility to obtain it.
n
- Early-career to mid-level clinical experience in adult or paediatric communication services.
n
- Strong clinical reasoning, communication and relationship-building capabilities.
n
- Capacity to work independently while contributing actively to team-oriented practice.
n
- A current Australian Driver's Licence and capacity to travel between the Essendon Hub and community appointments.
n
- A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain them before commencement.
n
- Australian working rights appropriate to the position.

Desirable Experience or Interests

- Adult neurological rehabilitation.
n
- Mental health or psychosocial disability.
n
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication, including low-tech and high-tech AAC.
n
- Swallowing, dysphagia or mealtime assessment.
n
- Neurodivergent-affirming practice.
n
- NDIS assessment, reporting and funding recommendations.
