Tell me about this role:

Amentum are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support the delivery of a major Defence capability program. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across the systems engineering lifecycle, helping to shape capability outcomes, manage complex technical challenges, and support key project milestones.

Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, you will collaborate with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and specialist engineering teams to ensure technical solutions align with operational requirements. What will I be doing day to day?

- Lead systems engineering activities across the project lifecycle
- Develop, manage and maintain system requirements and technical baselines
- Coordinate engineering inputs from multiple disciplines and stakeholders
- Conduct technical analysis, trade studies and solution assessments
- Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks and issues
- Support system architecture development and requirements traceability
- Prepare engineering documentation, reports and technical briefs
- Contribute to project reviews, governance activities and approval processes
- Provide technical advice to project leadership and key stakeholders
- Work closely with Defence, industry partners and subject matter experts to achieve project outcomes

What sort of skills do I need?





- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering within complex Defence, government or large-scale technical programs
- Experience supporting capability acquisition, integration or delivery projects
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, frameworks and best practice
- Experience with requirements management, system design and verification activities
- Ability to manage technical risks, dependencies and interfaces
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead technical workstreams and influence project outcomes
- Experience preparing technical documentation and presenting findings to senior stakeholders
- Current NV1 Security Clearance as a minimum
