Job Title: Software Engineer - Embedded Systems
Location: Perth, WA
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Work Set-up: Full-time | Permanent | On-site | 9-Day Fortnight

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Engineering team and contribute to the development of new and existing engine control products, embedded software, test applications and user interfaces.

You will work across the complete software development lifecycle, translating system and control requirements into robust software solutions and supporting verification, testing and continuous improvement.

This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong C/C++ and embedded systems background who enjoys working close to hardware and solving complex engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, test and release embedded and PC-based software using modern development tools and programming languages.
- Develop software for engine control, power systems and other embedded sub-systems.
- Translate product, system and control strategy requirements into software specifications, interfaces and acceptance criteria.
- Produce clear technical documentation and software design inputs.
- Implement robust software verification and validation processes.
- Develop and maintain unit, regression and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing processes.
- Participate in design reviews, risk management, DFMEA, issue resolution and value engineering activities.
- Analyse test and field data to identify issues and improve software and control strategies.




- Support ongoing development and optimisation of engine and power system control strategies.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across software, electronics, controls and mechanical engineering.
- Apply structured engineering and problem-solving methodologies to complex technical challenges.

Qualifications:

- Degree qualification in Software, Mechatronics, Control Systems, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in embedded software development.
- Solid understanding of embedded systems and 16-bit / 32-bit microcontrollers.
- Strong programming experience in C and C++.
- Experience with communication protocols including CAN Bus, Serial, I2C and SPI.
- Familiarity with Git, SVN or similar version control systems.
- Understanding of software development practices including merge requests, code reviews and code-diff reviews.
- Experience with software verification and validation, including test planning, execution and results analysis.
- Experience with HIL, unit or regression testing would be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D or 7-Step Problem Solving.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work methodically through complex technical issues.
